ANDERSON HOUSE WEDDING | WASHINGTON DC ELOPEMENT

Although this couple had originally planned to have their wedding in 2022, the pandemic reminded them that life is short, and inspired them to be a little spontaneous. So, they decided to fast forward and have an intimate elopement at Anderson House in Washington D.C. instead!

For J+L, their elopement was not the wedding they had pictured. They had dreams of a big wedding with all of their family and friends. When they moved their date up, they ideated on a courthouse wedding, but quickly realized that this moment was going to be one they would remember for the rest of their lives. They decided to find a stylish and intimate Washington D.C. venue to exchange their vows and put so much effort into the details that made this day so special. Anderson House was a perfect choice!

Less is More

J said it best. “Less is more! COVID helped us realize it’s the little things in life that matter. Smaller is better.” You see this theme in their attire, location, and details that came together.

Their soirée was not lacking when it came to stylishness. J + L wanted to avoid the expected and traditional fall color palette, opting for memorable deep champagne, rose gold, and gray theme throughout.

The Stylish Gown and Suit

Their desert-meets-glam style attire suited them perfectly, showing off their unique taste in a bold and classy way. With a background in editorial and fashion photography, I love when clients rock unique attire choices! J wore an absolutely stunning white crystal kimono gown that shimmered in the autumn sun. L decided on a tailored silver window-pane suit to compliment the dress as the suit had a softer look.

The Socially Distanced and Safe Afterparty

The newlyweds did have a small socially distanced champagne celebration with some of their close friends in the area. The two hosted a “Best Day Ever” champagne toast in their backyard. Upon entry, honored guests passed through a sanitation station, equipped with a touchless sanitizer dispenser and masks so the guests could stay safe during the celebration.

The couple had six cocktail tables topped with coral floral centerpieces and sanitizer in elegant crystal bottles. J+L also put disposable cameras on each table for their friends to capture the evening. Along with the cameras were rustic pencils to write date ideas for the newlyweds down and burlap pouches to keep the ideas safe.

I am so honored that J+L had me capture their elopement in D.C. It stands out as one of the most memorable weddings I have photographed. I am especially flattered to have had their wedding and my work featured on The Knot. Their story is so sweet and deserves to be shared!
